Soroptimist International was founded in the United States. It’s a global volunteer movement dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls. The network strives to educate, empower and enable opportunities for them, as well as to transform their lives and status through education, training and capacity building opportunities.

Casa do Pombal - A Mãe is a temporary shelter located in Aveiras de Cima, Portugal. Its overall aim is to accommodate 20 children at risk from 0 to 12 years old who are facing situations that compromise their safety, health, education and morality.

The Portuguese Refugee Council  is a non-governmental development organization based in Lisbon that advocates for the right to asylum by providing specialized assistance and sheltering applicants for international protection. It also has two refugee reception centers and a shelter for refugee children.

The project is focused on accelerating progress - challenging systems, policies, and practices to ensure that every girl has access to a free, safe, and high-quality education for 12 years.

 

 

 

Women for Women International

Women for Women International is a non-profit organization based in the USA. It provides women with support and education, as well as social and economic skills, and operates in  eight countries that have been ravaged by war and conflict.

 

 

 

Associação Ser Mulher

ASM - Associação Ser Mulher is a non-profit organization based in Évora, Portugal. It emerged from the desire to continue supporting and welcoming victims of domestic violence in the city of Évora. Lar de Santa Helena opened the first shelter house in Portugal, after celebrating twenty years of violence intervention in 2015.

UN WOMEN is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and women's empowerment, headquartered in New York. It works on a global scale to make the vision of the sustainable development goals a reality for women and girls, and it advocates for women's equal participation in all aspects of life.

 

 

 

Casa da Criança

Casa da Criança is a non-profit institution located in Guimarães, Portugal. Its aim is to provide temporary shelter for children who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned. Since 2005, they have already accommodated 130 children who have been adopted or returned to their biological family.

 

 

 

Girl MOVE Academy

Girl MOVE is a Leadership Academy that creates innovative models of education to amplify talent, raise gender equality and promote transformation. It empowers Girls and Women to be the next generation’s Changemakers through a mentorship model that sees every woman as a sister for impactful change of others. 

Girl MOVE has recently joined efforts with the Girls Opportunity Alliance, a program from the Obama Foundation, and both institutions are raising funds to implement a program that aims to impact 1200 adolescent Mozambican girls that are at risk of significant learning loss.

 

 

 

MSI UNITED STATES

MSI UNITES STATES is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C, USA. It supports MSI Reproductive Choices’ work around the world, allowing them to help vulnerable women and girls take control of their own futures by providing access to contraception and safe abortion.

 

 

 

Dress a Girl Portugal

Dress a Girl Around the World is a NGO based in the United States with the mission of creating dresses to donate to girls in needy countries, providing them with dignity, protection, and hope. It made its debut in Portugal in 2016 as part of the project “Dress a Girl Portugal” with the collaboration of several sewing ateliers, day centers, schools, senior universities, and informal groups spread across the country, promoting solidarity sewing meetings.

 

 

 

Lar Santa Teresa

Lar de Santa Teresa, based in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, has a care home and a children's home allowing children and young people to return to living in a healthy family context and also receive training for the world of work. It has its own funds, which in addition to providing an educational and training purpose, are tools that allow structuring and sustaining the institution.
